The announcement comes at a time when India’s gaming ecosystem is entering a new phase of maturity. According to Naavik’s India State of Play 2026 report, India continues to generate nearly 8 billion game downloads annually while remaining one of the world’s most efficient markets for player acquisition, with average Cost Per Install (CPI) declining to approximately US$0.05 by the end of 2025.

While game downloads have largely stabilised, in-app purchase revenues have more than doubled over the past five years, signalling that India’s gaming market is increasingly being driven by engagement, community participation and long-term monetisation rather than user acquisition alone. As competitive gaming audiences continue to deepen their connection with esports, premium live content and tournament IPs are becoming increasingly valuable for platforms looking to engage highly invested gaming communities.

BGMS Season 5 will run from August 10 to September 6, 2026, with all matches streaming exclusively on KICK.
