The underdog stories of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2026 are about to collide with the established giants of the scene. Following an intense opening week where over a thousand squads were whittled down, BGIS 2026 Round 2 is officially set to kick off on February 5th.
BGIS 2026 Round 2: The Survival of the Fittest
Round 1 was a digital battlefield that featured 1,024 hopefuls. After seven days of non-stop action (Jan 26 – Feb 1), only 496 teams remain standing. These qualifiers have proven their mechanical skill, but they are about to face a much more strategic brand of BGMI.
The Grind Invited Teams
While the Round 1 teams fought through the open qualifiers, 16 “boss” teams are waiting for them in Round 2. These teams earned their spots through The Grind, and they represent some of the most consistent names in the industry.
The “Top Tier” (From Group D): Keep a close eye on the frontrunners like Team Alpha, Phoenix Esports, and Team Insane Esports. These squads topped Group D and are entering the tournament as heavy favorites to sweep their groups.
The “Redemption” Teams (From Group C): For teams like Medal Esports and GlitchxReborn, Round 2 is about more than just qualifying—it’s about redemption. Having finished in the bottom half of Group C in The Grind, they are looking to re-establish their dominance against the open-bracket qualifiers.
