The Indian esports community is facing a serious controversy. Hades Plays, the former Esports Head of GodLike Esports, is accused of being part of a financial scam worth almost ₹1 Crore. At first, it appeared to be a simple unpaid money issue.
Over time, it turned into police cases, public statements, and broken trust across the gaming scene. Several creators have now spoken up, and GodLike Esports has shared its side to clear its name.
What is the Hades financial scam about?
According to multiple reports, Hades Plays allegedly took money from different people over the last six months. He is accused of asking for funds by claiming there was a serious medical emergency in his family.
Using this emotional reason, he reportedly borrowed money from friends, creators, and associates in the esports industry.
At first, the amount was believed to be around ₹50–60 lakhs. However, as more details came out and victims spoke up, sources now believe the total amount involved could be as high as ₹80 lakhs to ₹1 Crore.
Victims of Hades financial scam
One of the most important moments in this case came when GodLike content creator Sharkshe reportedly filed a legal complaint.
She is said to have given around ₹15 lakhs to Hades, believing his medical emergency story. Her decision to take legal action encouraged others and confirmed that this was not just a rumor.
Reports suggest there are more victims, including well-known creators, who have not spoken publicly yet. Many may be staying silent due to fear of damage to their reputation or online backlash.
The controversy goes even deeper. Reports from LetsGrowEsports claim that Hades tried to bribe them with cash and expensive gadgets to remove news related to David Dey, another esports figure previously accused of scams.
During these talks, Hades allegedly mentioned plans to move to the UAE and start a business there.

This case has become a major warning for the Indian gaming industry. A possible ₹1 Crore scam involving a senior figure from a Tier-1 organization has raised serious questions about trust, background checks, and financial transparency.
As legal action continues, the community now waits for justice and stronger safeguards to prevent such incidents in the future.
